A report, Wind Farm Financial Performance in New Zealand, says that the current low prices on offer for wind power will have to rise if wind is to be attractive as a private sector investment and that maintenance costs will be fairly high while operating experience is being accumulated. But by and large, wind energy is highly suitable for New Zealand and will easily be able to meet a large proportion of the country's electricity needs in the not too distant future.
